Gas-powered special-purpose vessel for Goliat to be built in Norway

The Stavanger shipping company Simon Møkster Shipping AS has been awarded a 10 year contract to supply a new, purpose-built supply and standby vessel to be associated with the Goliat production platform in the Barents Sea. The vessel is to be built in Norway and will be unique to the Norwegian shelf, combining platform supply and advanced contingency functions.

Simon Møkster Shipping AS submitted the best tender in strong competition between domestic and international companies, taking into consideration both technical and commercial criteria. The ship will be tailor-made for Arctic assignments and will be constructed to function as both a supply and a standby vessel. The ship will have oil spill preparedness capabilities and be capable of carrying out fire-fighting, rescue and towing operations .
