Impact assessments and public consultations

Disclosure of information and dialogue with local communities and stakeholders that may be affected by our operations is an important part of an impact assessment.

Most of our projects are on the Norwegian continental shelf, and therefore our impact assessments are usually only published in Norwegian.

All our impact assessments are shared in PDF format.

Ongoing impact assessments and public consultations

Balder FPU to shore

The programme for the Impact Assessment (IA)  for the removal of the Balder FPU is submitted for public consultation. The programme represents the first step in the work on the impact assessment. The work includes gathering feedback from the public/stakeholders during a consultation period of three months.

The final programme must be approved by the Ministry of Energy before work on the impact assessment can begin.

Planned progress for the impact assessment work:

  • Public consultation of IA programme, December 2024
  • Start Impact Assessment, March 2025
  • Public consultation of the Impact Assessment, tentative start October 2025
  • Incorporation of comments to IA
  • Submission of IA together with closure plan, Q2 2026

Consultations to be submitted by: Friday 21. March 2025.

Gjøa Subsea Projects (GSP)

In recent years, several discoveries have been made in the area north of the Gjøa field (located in the northern North Sea), both in the same production license and in adjacent production licenses. This includes the discoveries Ofelia (PL929), Gjøa Nord (PL153), and Cerisa (PL636).

These discoveries are planned to be developed as a portfolio to achieve synergies and are referred to as “Gjøa Subsea Projects” (GSP).

Plans for development and operation (PDO) are scheduled to be submitted in 2025/2026, including a joint impact assessment.

A proposal for an impact assessment program constitutes the first step in the impact assessment process. The current program proposal is now being submitted for consultation.

Consultations to be submitted by: 11. April 2025.
