Goliat Power Cable Contract Award

PRESS RELEASE: Eni Norge AS and partner Statoil Petroleum AS have selected ABB AB for the provision of the subsea power cable for the Goliat Development Project in the Barents Sea.
Eni has on behalf of the Production Licence (PL) 229 signed a contract with ABB in Sweden for provision of a subsea power cable which will supply electric power to the Goliat FPSO. The contract value is NOK 676 million.

The Goliat installation will be partly electrified through the subsea power cable connected to the onshore electricity grid and has a capacity of 75 MW. A 50% CO2 emission reduction is obtained as compared to a system based on offshore generation of electricity only. The cable will be the longest and most powerful of its kind ever delivered for an offshore application.
