Development and Projects

Development and projects

Vår Energi participates in several development projects on the Norwegian continental shelf. Our portfolio reflects our hub-based strategy of capturing near-field value potential to utilize existing infrastructure.

We are investing in the life extension of the Balder field in the North Sea. One of the ongoing projects is the Balder Future project.

Operated development

Balder field life extension

The Balder field in production license PL 001 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) was acquired in 1965. Vår Energi is currently investing in the Balder hub area, aiming to extend production to 2045.

There are four ongoing projects in the area:

Balder FPU Life Extension – vessel upgrade
Ringhorne III – drilling new wells
Balder Future – Jotun FPSO upgrade and drilling 15 new production wells and one water injection well.
Ringhorne IV – drilling new wells
Vår Energi is also considering drilling new exploration wells in the area.

Developing the Alke discovery

Vår Energi is planning a potential development of the Alke discovery located southwest of the Goliat field in the Barents Sea. This includes maturing a potential gas export concept to extend the license period. We have several studies evaluating concept selection in combination with the Goliat license.

Partner operated development

Vår Energi participates in a number of development projects on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) as partner. The discoveries reflect our hub-based strategy of capturing near-field value potential and utilizing existing infrastructure.

We seek to mature potential development projects to maximise the value of our asset portfolio and increase oil and gas production.
